Why Us?

TEAM USA REPRESENTS THE BEST OF WHO WE ARE AS A NATION

Jesse Owens. Al Oerter. Bonnie Blair. Peggy Fleming. Carl Lewis. Mark Spitz. Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Dan Jansen. Kerri Strug. The 1980 Men's Hockey Team. Brad Snyder. Simone Biles. Abbey D'Agostino. And so many more...

U.S. athletes have a unique ability to unite neighbors, bridge differences and inspire individuals young and old through their fearless performances on the playing field—and the sacrifices they made along the way to get to the Games.

Team USA's athletes are more unifying than ever. The values they embody in their pursuit of greatness—perseverance, hard work, dedication—are the values all Americans aspire to uphold.

We are the nation's hometown team.

Why You?

YOUR DONATIONS GIVE TEAM USA THE WINNING EDGE

U.S. Olympians and Paralympians are proud to say:
"America doesn't send its
athletes to the Games.
AMERICANS DO."

Unlike the other 205 Olympic Committees around the world, the U.S. Olympic Committee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that doesn’t receive government funding for its Olympic programs. Instead, we rely on the generosity of patriotic donors—the Team Behind the Team—to help U.S. athletes remain competitive with the rest of the world.

Why now?

TEAM USA'S URGENT NEED

Team USA is being rapidly outpaced by government-funded competitors
around the world.

Philanthropic support is needed to close the gap with other countries and keep Team USA competitive on the world stage, now and into the future.

THE TEAM FOR TOMORROW

Today, the USOC funds the Olympic and Paralympic Teams, a group of approximately 1,000 athletes. While this level of funding is significant, we must reach deeper to support more members of Team USA and its next generation.

Our goal is to fund the entire U.S. National Team—nearly double the amount of currently supported athletes.

We need your help to achieve this goal.

DONOR IMPACT AREAS

We believe in sending the nation's best athletes to the Games – not just those who can afford to get there.

  • Provide athlete stipends to offset living and training expenses
  • Support National Governing Bodies (NGBs), who oversee sports in the U.S. from elite to grassroots levels
  • Welcome elite athletes to live cost-free at Olympic Training Centers

We invest in resources to maximize the athletic potential and sustained competitive excellence of Team USA.

  • Invest in technology and innovation initiatives to keep Team USA on the forefront of technology-driven sports
  • Fund athletes’ sports medicine, psychology, nutrition and recovery needs
  • Empower the USOC’s high-performance team to identify and develop promising Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls

We provide U.S. athletes with the tools they need to achieve greatness at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

  • Organize the Team USA Ambassador and Managing Victory Programs
  • Take care of all staffing and transportation needs at the Games
  • Create temporary onsite high-performance centers so athletes are provided every advantage wherever they compete

We prepare U.S. athletes for a fulfilling life within, outside of and beyond their competitive careers.

  • Enable all athletes to achieve greatness off the playing field through the Athlete Career and Education (ACE) Program
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive environment for athletes, coaches and staff
  • Ensure that athlete safety is the top priority by funding programs like SafeSport

Without the support of the Team Behind the Team, our nation's most promising athletes would not have the ability to train full-time. In fact, many Team USA hopefuls struggle to make a livable income, taking part-time jobs to pay the rent while training to become the best in the world.

By giving to Team USA, you increase the amount of support provided to American athletes—and in turn maximize their potential of reaching the podium at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It's an investment in inspiration—one that will pay dividends when an American athlete takes home gold with your support.

Every Donation Matters

"Having the support of Team USA donors has been huge. In all the years that I’ve spent at the Olympic Training Center, being able to train there, eat there, have all the access to sports medicine is really what took my career to the next level. And without that, I don’t think I’d be sitting here today as an Olympic medalist, so we’re always very thankful for the opportunity that those individuals give us."
